Culture is a caricature.

The more cultural criticisms I read, the more I feel disheartened that modern culture appears to be a caricature.

On a mass scale, we have stopped valuing artistic expression outside the realm of commercial implications. It would not have been accepted 100+ years ago for an artist to do nothing except sell things. If Degas’ Little Dancer  was wearing a tutu branded to sears (they did not make tutu’s, bear with me on this), it would have been discarded on every level. The shame an artist would feel at being associated with this sort of disgusting bastardization of human expression, would be unbearable.

Today, people form long lasting memories that are commonly linked with advertisements.

The most disheartening problem facing any change to this system is that there is no way to bring it about without using legislation. This is not a real change. To bring people into a mindset that will lead anywhere other than pure commercialism, it is required to make them happier because of it.

The Big Six (These guys) would do everything in their power to convince all of humanity that they would be so lost that they could never find happiness again, most likely, if their beautiful system started to fail.

With that said… It would be amazing to have a world free from saturation advertising. I can hope, anyways, that our generation will get behind the change.
