Everyday I’m obiplopspling
“Hey Maria, do you think that instead of ding-dong for deaf people’s doorbells, that they just have a strobe light go off?”
I drew a picture of Maria from our conversation a few nights ago!
Its so lifelike, its almost haunting.
I’ve been trying to treat people better, especially giving them thanks and recognition where I feel it is due. With that in mind, Eduardo from http://www.misprintedtype.com created this font and I made this and sent it to him as a thanks for his work.
He actually responded and shared how much it meant to him to receive feedback like that.
It made my day reading his response.
Fonts
Dear god… I think I downloaded something like 30 fonts just now.
They all look so amazing!! Possibility is a good reason to horde fonts, right??
UMBC + pokemon + a dinosaur = A+
Okay, let me share something with you, Mr friends. I was sitting in class when a girl and a boy walked in. They sat down like everything was okay, but it was not okay. The girl immediately pulled out a DS and started playing Pokemon. How do I know it was Pokemon, you ask? Well, she announced every single action she made in the game. That’s fine, James! She was doing it at a whisper to her friend-who-is-a-boy, right? Wrong. She was speak/screaming at what I can only presume was the absolute maximum volume she could achieve without professional training. Well, James, you DO go to UMBC LAWL(!) these things are to be expected! It wasn’t even that bad, I mean, she only talked about Pokemon, right? Wrong. While complain/screaming about her failed attempts to breed the strongest pixellated army she could, she made it a point to use every single slur she could recall. You would think this would make her at least a little bit circumspect about how loud she yelled these things. You would think. She would not. Honestly, all of this probably wouldn’t have bothered me in the slightest on any other day — I know what school I go to. However, Today was our mid-term, and she was perfecting her Poke-Trainer skills in the last 10 minutes before the test started. Mixed in with Livy’s history of rome, I think I now have Bulbasaurs and Togapi’s and tactics to collect all eight badges in record time without the assistance of nurse joy or …. Yeah, she said these things. On the plus side, I was stumped on a short answer, so I wrote a story about a dinosaur. I feel that he will give me partial credit for it.
Today
For whatever reason,
I really don’t feel like checking my email, paying attention to my phone, or really having any gadgets announce when you, my friends, try to talk to me today. I’m not mad at any of you. Actually, I’m in a good mood.
I just wish it was acceptable to ignore the ever-present, beeping whirlwind that is modern communication and its accompanying alerts.

P.S. I am a media and communications major. Using ALL of these devices is, quite literally, 97.5% of my major. This is ironic.
P.P.S. The way I chose to share this information was, obviously, Tumblr. One of the very devices I am trying to dodge. The irony of this too is not lost on me!
